Pre-Match Thoughts: Something tells me this game could surpass the emotion of last night. Dallas though is practically in the same boat as Chicago was the other night, and really right now their best form of defense right now is to get a quick goal, possibly two to really put all the pressure. However this is Houston we're talking about. The former San Jose who knows how to do the business and with the atmosphere the fans will generate inside Robertson Stadium, this is going to be yet another intense ninety minutes of football.

First Half:
Minute 1: False start, and Dallas kicks off.
Minute 1: OFFSIDE, BUT WOW. Sala almost goes Paul Robinson in trying to punch the ball over the crossbar puts the ball right on the crossbar, and in the mad scramble which saw Sala out of position, De Rosario was well offside. Sala stays down and you wonder if Burse will end up having to be subbed in early?
Minute 4: Sala looks ok and gets the game restarted.
Minute 5: Mulrooney is just a little too heavy on his pass in, Sala easily picks the ball up. The ball is bouncing all over the place tonight.
Minute 7: De Rosario tries to find Jaqua, but Sala was always going to get too that ball first.
Minute 9: Another Houston offside.
Minute 11: Dario Sala sees three shots in succession saved. Sala sees one off the woodwork, then the center backs, and then parries the third shot. The ball in from Waibel set all that up.
Minute 14: GOAL DALLAS, GOAL CARLOS RUIZ: BOBBY RHINE SETS THE BALL UP TO KENNY COOPER. COOPER THEN GETS THE CENTER BACKS BALL WATCHING. COOPER THEN HEADS ONTO AN UNMARKED CARLOS RUIZ WHO SCORES AT THE NEAR POST. HOUSTON GETS BEATEN ON THE COUNTER AND NOW NEEDS A 2-1 WIN JUST TO GET TO EXTRA TIME. HOUSTON DYNAMO 0 (0) FC DALLAS 1 (2).
Minute 17: Throw in for Houston in deep, but Gbandi is there to clear the first service in. The second service in results in a Dallas free kick.
Minute 18: De Rosario finds Jaqua, however Jaqua's flick on to Ching ends up out wide of the far post. Houston are getting chances in the penalty area, however the finishing so far has been poor.
Minute 20: Jaqua earns Houston a corner kick. Mulrooney takes and Dallas has no problem clearing.
Minute 21: Kenny Cooper tries to do more with the ball than he should have. Ended up giving possession away way too cheaply.
Minute 22: Ray Burse is getting set to come in...
Minute 24: Ray Burse in, Dario Sala off. Houston has to exploit the center of the park now. Jaqua's height should be used to Houston's benefit. Sala is booked for time wasting.
Minute 28: Ching disposses Dallas in the midfield, but then Denilson comes back and dispossesses Ching. Houston get teh ball back but the quality of the pitch right now is hurting them.
Minute 29: Yellow Card Craig Waibel. Mulrooney with a late challenge on Ruiz but Waibel does too much protesting saying Ruiz is play acting. Ref gave him fair warning to back off and didn't so yellow for dissent.
Minute 30: Correction, that yellow card was for Richard Mulrooney...or both Waibel and Mulrooney got yellow cards.
Minute 31: Burse hugs the near post, and it works to his benefit when Ching gets in too deep and tries to cross from the byline.
Minute 33: Yi concedes a corner to Houston. Davis to take and Mullan's chip in is collected easily by Burse.
Minute 36: Nice language from the Houston manager as Rhine gets a knee in the back from Ching. He stays down a while and finally the whistle blows for treatment.
Minute 37: Waibel goes wide of the near post. Mullen with a good pass to set him up.
Minute 38: Burse denies Ching from close range, and the Houston pressure averted when Dallas earns a free kick. In all that, Denilson gets a yellow card.
Minute 40: Eddie Robinson fouls Carlos Ruiz, then goes mental. He is very lucky that was only a yellow card.
Minute 41: The resulting Dallas free kick from Denilson ends up out for a corner. Denilson takes the corner, but Dallas keeps possession off the head tennis. Alvarez then gets into a shoulder checking battle with Davis, and Davis wins that.
Minute 43: Serioux does way too much with the ball, and promptly losses possession thanks to a Davis challenge.
Minute 44: Gbandi holds back Mullen and gets a yellow card for that one.
Minute 45: The cross in is defended well by Gbandi. Ching's header to goal was never going towards the goal, but wide of the near post.
Minute 45+2: After a spell of Dallas possession that ends when Cooper isn't able to get a bicycle kick, Houston earns a free kick...that is wasted when the ball forward goes right to Burse.
Minute 45+3: Gbandi again with good work at the back. Then Yi obstructs De Rosario and Houston gets a dangerous free kick to end the first half...
Minute 45+4: Mulrooney and Davis over the ball and it's Davis to take and ends up off the wall. Cooper is called for hand ball and this one is right on the edge of the penalty area...
Minute 45+5: Davis takes, but Burse fists out and that's the first half...
HALFTIME: HOUSTON DYNAMO 0 FC DALLAS 1 (2).
First Half Thoughts: I almost feel like I would be kidding when I say this, but is looks almost like an exact carbon copy of the first half of last night's game. The only difference is both Sala and Burse have had to do a bit of work. Denilson and Gbandi have played out of their skin and Dallas is putting on the defense effort, and looking dangerous on the counter. The one thing Houston has to realize is they have created chances, now they just have to finish them.
Second Half:
Minute 46: Houston kicks off.
Minute 47: After the whistle for a ball out. AND ALVAREZ IS OFF. DAVIS IS ON THE PARK AND COMES UP COUGHING. THE REPLAY SHOWS DAVIS WAS KNEED IN MAN'S NOT SO BEST FRIEND AND THE REFEREE SAW IT ALL. NOW DALLAS A MAN DOWN WILL HAVE TO DEFEND FOR NEXT 43 PLUS MINUTES.
Minute 48: Stuart Holden on, Craig Waibel off.
Minute 50: Pablo Richetti on, Denilson off. Houston looking to pack 8 at the back and just defend like the dickens until the end.
Minute 51: Houston before the sub earned a corner kick thanks to Gbandi. Davis takes and ends up not beating the first man at the near post.
Minute 52: Davis from about 35 and that was wide left. Goal kick to Dallas. Ruiz is down...again.
Minute 54: Ruiz goes off on a stretcher. Barrett's expression says it all.
Minute 55: Burse restarts as Dallas are now playing with nine. Yi misses the ball trying to clear, but Burse is there to clear. Now you have to wonder who Dallas is thinking about for their third sub.
Minute 56: Wouldn't ya know it, Ruiz is back on the park. Burse has to catch another chip, this one from De Rosario.
Minute 56: On the counter, Ruiz looked to be taken down for a free kick and even possibly a penalty. The referee seems sick of the antics and waves off all protests.
Minute 58: Corner to Dallas. Toja takes it short and then sees his cross go out for corner number two. Toja takes this corner and despite the good switch to Cooper, Dallas waste the shot and Houston clears.
Minute 60: Corner to Houston with Davis takes. Rhine clears to Richetti. Richetti wastes the ball to Cooper and Mulrooney clears.
Minute 61: Joseph Ngwenya on, Nate Jaqua off. Need the best attackers on the park right now if your Houston.
Minute 63: Houston have looked really flat since going a man up.
Minute 65: Ngwenya gets in and Burse may have just won this game for Dallas. Burse blocks Ngwenya's effort off the leg and the rebound for Houston goes well wide.
Minute 66: GOAL HOUSTON, GOAL STUART HOLDEN. HOUSTON GOES ROUTE ONE AND THE BALL PLAYED FORWARD IS HEADED BY CHING. HOLDEN FROM 12 YARDS OUT WAITS FOR THE BALL TO BOUNCE INTO A GOOD POSITION AND FIRES IN NEAR POST. POOR DEFENDING ALL AROUND BY DALLAS THERE AND IS FATIGUE STARTING TO GET TO THEM? HOUSTON DYNAMO 1 (1) FC DALLAS 1 (2).
Minute 68: Houston free kick after Ricchetti is called for a foul. Davis takes and and drives the ball right into the chest of Ray Burse.
Minute 70: Ngwenya does well to say onside. Davis takes the heavily weighted touch from Joseph and crosses into Ching, but his header goes high. The streamers are now out in full effect.
Minute 71: More hectic defending as Ching nearly breaks the ball in through the center of the park....
Minute 71: GOAL HOUSTON, GOAL BRIAN CHING. THIS GAME IS NOW TIED AND SO MUCH FOR WHAT I SAID A FEW MINUTES AGO. CHING TAKES THE DIAGONAL BALL FROM DE ROASRIO AND THE CENTER BACKS FALL TO PIECES. THE DALLAS DEFENDERS ARE BEGGING FOR OFFSIDE, BUT THEY KNEW IT WAS A MUTE ARGUEMENT. CHING TAKES, BURSE'S FEET IS IN CEMENT, AND CHING SCORES AT THE NEAR POST. DALLAS IS LOOKING DEAD AND NGWENYA IS LOOKING THE SUPER SUB DYNAMO TONIGHT. HOUSTON DYNAMO 2 FC DALLAS 1. WE ARE NOW TIED AT 2 ON AGGREGATE.
Minute 73: Onstad does well to collect a ball with Toja right on him.
Minute 75: Serioux takes a knee right in the tender part of the leg from Holden. He looks in pain. On an aside, the crowd is going mental right now.
Minute 77: Yellow card Serioux. That was a retaliation foul on Holden and is lucky the ref was being kind. That could have been a red.
Minute 78: Dominic Oduro is warming up and looks set to come on.
Minute 79: Ngwenya waits until it's too late to shoot, and Serioux with the good tackle and clears.
Minute 80: Dominic Oduro on, Adrian Serioux off. Pace for the extra thirty if not for getting a game winner in regulation.
Minute 81: Juan Toja concedes a Houston free kick. Off it, De Rosario shoots on first touch, and goes wide of the near post. Is it safe to say right now it's been one way traffic?
Minute 83: Corner to Houston that Davis takes. That was close as De Rosario goes a foot over the crossbar.
Minute 85: Yi mugs Ching in the midfield and concedes a free kick. Yi then off the free kick blocks a Holden shot...
Minute 86: Holden gets the ball back and his shot doesn't miss the upper ninety at the far post by much. Goal kick to Dallas.
Minute 88: Another good Davis cross, but an even better catch from Burse before Ching can head it towards goal.
Minute 89: Robinson denies Cooper a good chance on goal.
Minute 89: Carlos Ruiz...and this is a recording. Goes down and has the referee help him up.
Minute 90: Ngwenya goes for goal, but Burse was the only man to collect.
Minute 90: Ricchetti denies De Rosario on the run...well we will see 100 minutes of regulation as the fourth official has indicated six minutes of second half injury time.
Minute 90+2: Dangerous free kick for Dallas here about forty yards out in a position to swing it in towards the box. Ricchetti to take and the cross goes off the wall.
Minute 90+3: Someone must be reading my blog from the Dallas area as they just made the same point about 100 minutes of regulation.
Minute 90+4: De Rosario with a great cross in, but Ching unable to get a forceful shot on it, but Burse still has to make a great diving save. On the counter, Ruiz has a shot blocked and Dallas has a corner...
Minute 90+5: Rhine takes and that was low and short and Houston clears with ease.
Minute 90+6: Dallas is ending regulation strongly as Robinson concedes a free kick in yet another dangerous spot for a cross. Rhine takes and Onstad punches away. Burse punts it forward but is headed back to Onstad...and we've got another 30 more minutes.
END OF REGULATION: HOUSTON DYNAMO 2 FC DALLAS 1. AGGREGATE TIED AT 2.
Second Half Thoughts: Well all that can be said is what a difference playing 11 on 10 makes. Burse still made 2 great saves to keep Dallas in this game. One though will have to think that Dallas will be playing for penalties now.
Extra Time Period 1:
Minute 91: FC Dallas kicks off.
Minute 92: Free kick to Dallas after Holden is caught on the foul. Cooper takes and the ball doesn't bend until after it goes over the crossbar.
Minute 94: OFF THE CROSSBAR. Houston again come close in a three shot flurry and Dallas are lucky they clear it out to the center line.
Minute 95: GOAL HOUSTON, GOAL BRIAN CHING. Mullan plays the ball in and it deflected off Gbandi. That legally makes the offside Ngwenya on and flicks back to Ching to make him onside and scores going near post. Perfect beating of an offside trap by Houston. Houston 3 (3) FC Dallas 1 (2).
Minute 97: Cooper goes just wide.
Minute 99: As I type up that goal description, Onstad and Moor both get yellow cards. Onstad for time wasting and Moor for a challenge using the elbow.
Minute 100: GOAL HOUSTON, GOAL BRAD DAVIS. OFF THE FREE KICK, DAVIS BENDS OVER THE WALL AND INBETWEEN BURSE AND THE NEAR POST. DAVID BECKHAM ADMIRE THAT BEAUTY. THIS ONE IS OVER. HOUSTON DYNAMO 4 (4) FC DALLAS 1 (2).
Minute 101: Corner to Dallas wasted when the ball bends in over the byline. Mullan is down and he looks like he ate an elbow to the Adam's Apple. Houston still have 1 sub left.
Minute 104: Finally the game gets restarted.
Minute 105: Brian Ching off, Patrick Ianni on. Time to shore up the back and prevent the counter with a 2 goal advantage.
END OF FIRST HALF EXTRA TIME: HOUSTON DYNAMO 4 (4) FC DALLAS 1 (2).
Extra Time Period 2:
Minute 106: Houston kicks off.
Minute 107: Onstad does well to deny Rhine.
Minute 109: Rhine and Ngwenya start trying to collect shirts before full time. De Rosario gets booked.
Minute 110: Dallas has slowed to a walking pace.
Minute 112: Joseph Ngwenya in all alone with Burse, and hits the side netting at the near post.
Minute 115: Oduro concedes a Houston free kick.
Minute 118: Dallas despite being dead are still trying. However they are just not able to get any shot on Onstad.
Minute 120: Did Moor get a second yellow card? If anything he did see a booking. Dallas has spent the last ninety seconds arguing the fact and yes Moor did get a second yellow.
Minute 120+1: Houston are playing the ball into the corner.
Minute 120+2: AND THAT IS IT!
FULLTIME: HOUSTON DYNAMO 4 (4) FC DALLAS 1 (2).
Final Thoughts: This game shows the difference playing with eleven men makes. Dallas lost steam the second they went down to ten men and the will they had to play simply left them the second Houston scored the second goal. Dallas had given Houston chances in the first half, and they finally finished on them in the second half. It also doesn't help either you are giving Houston 3 chances on goal in clusters, three times on the night they allowed that to happen. Joseph Ngwenya was the difference for Houston tonight and now they have to recover, and hope they can get a home game against Kansas City.

Well I will be back tomorrow night for a live double header. Until then, your feedback is forever welcomed and greatly appreciated!
